Melissa, I do believe educational videos will help students prepare for the GED test, or any test. Videos help students who are visual. I like when presenters show videos at our workshops- I might not get the material when they are talking about something, but when I watch it being done, it makes a lot of sense. This might be true for your students. Good luck with your last week! Two classes down... a million to go! Elda
I teach at an ISD by day and for a community college's GED program at night. I've told my students about the videos, but I cannot tell if they are using them or not.
I love workshops that include either videos or music. You are right in thinking that if the usage of technology assists me in learning, then it most likely will assist my students too.
My colleague uses khan academy for videos, but I create my own. I'm not sure which is better or if there is any comparison at all. My way of thinking is that my students may feel comforted by at least hearing me personally explain the concepts to them. Using khan academy, my students will still receive similar instruction but not personalized. Which do you think is better?
